After serving in the United States Navy, Delbert Linares began his utility career as a meter reader before advancing through the trade as a groundman, apprentice lineman, and journeyman lineman. He has worked as a journeyman lineman since 2003, bringing more than 30 years of utility experience and a strong understanding of both overhead and underground electrical systems.
Throughout his career, Delbert has served in numerous technical, instructional, and leadership roles. He has worked as an apparatus technician, UDI inspector, underground general foreman, and meter service crew lead. He also successfully passed both the E-Crew and Troubleman examinations.
Delbert’s passion for developing others has been a defining part of his career. He served as an instructor at Southern California Edisions Chino Training Facility, taught climbing school, assisted with apprentice electrical theory instruction, led splicing school, and mentored apprentices and junior lineworkers. He also served as a district safety representative at the Whittier Service Center.
Fluent in English and Spanish, Delbert brings extensive knowledge of California General Orders 95 and 128, a strong commitment to safety, and decades of practical field experience to every training environment. His teaching is grounded in real-world experience, personal accountability, and a genuine desire to help the next generation of lineworkers succeed.
Outside of the trade, Delbert remains committed to serving his community. He has volunteered with the East L.A. Bikers Annual Toy Drive since 2002 and has supported workforce-development programs and Thanksgiving meal distributions for individuals experiencing homelessness.
